Robert John Hahn

Robert John Hahn, 65, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, September 4, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be held at Squaw Creek Lodge on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Military honors at 2:00 p.m.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Lynn Hahn of Mt. Vernon; his children, Kim (Mark) Naaktgeborn of Cedar Rapids, Stephen (Claire) Taylor of Florida, Mike (Elyce) Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Stephen Becker of Mt. Vernon, Catherine (Johnny) Norwood of Mt. Vernon, Marcia (Mike) Wilcox of Hinesville, GA, Ashley Benter of Mt. Vernon, Karissa (Austin Myers) Benter of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Shaynna Hahn, Kylar Benter, Ashlynn Wilcox, Matthew Norwood, Jacob Norwood, Jamysen Taylor, Madison Taylor, Baby Taylor; three great-grandchildren; brother, Lee (Rosemary) Hahn; and sister Bev (Marv) Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Roberta Hahn.

Robert was born August 23, 1950 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He served in the military from 1970 to 1973, the only time he left Iowa for a long period of time. When he returned from Vietnam, he went back to work for Midland Forge until they closed in 2009. The last trip he made was with Barbara. They traveled to Georgia and Florida for a month, where he was able to view the ocean. Robert enjoyed listening to and playing music. He loved to sing with his daughter Kim, play pool, and tell stories.
