Clyde W. Miller

Clyde W. Miller, an esteemed and highly respected member of our community passed on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo.

Clyde was Born November 20, 1934 in Polk City, Iowa to his proud father Clyde Oliver and loving mother Esther Louisa Miller, as the youngest of two other siblings June Smith (deceased) and Jim Miller.

Clyde, known as Pete and Pops to family and friends, served with honor during the Korean War in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles from 1952 to 1955. Pete’s love of the open road brought him to become a lifelong truck driver, during the times when truck drivers were looked upon with honor as the gentlemen of the highway. Between that and construction work Clyde was a hard-working man always with a smile on his face, was of quick wit and always willing to help his fellow man.

Pete is survived by his children; Kimberly K. Holmes, Peter W. Miller, Angela R. Miller and Kristine M. Miller; grandchildren; Sheila J. Holmes, Tiasa M. Scott, Kye W. Miller, Steven L. Miller, Leslie M. Miller, and Sarah R. Miller; great-grandchildren: Donovan R. Arraut and Aubrianna M. Arraut; numerous nieces, nephews, and the multitude of the adults and children from around the world, who knew they were part of his family

Pete gave out hope and love as if it were candy and brightened the days of so many with just a smile and a small flirt. Pete, like his father before him, was a well-loved, respected and appreciated human being. We shall all miss him. If the world seems a bit darker today, that he is not here, know that he lives on in each of us who remembers his words, deeds, and giving spirit.

A military service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Moingona, Iowa.  A celebration of life will be held at the Historical Building on Story Street and Sixth Street in Boone afterwards.  Everyone is invited to arrive from 11:00 a.m. onward.
