Donald Gary Gray died November 2, 2015 at the nursing home in Chariton at the age of 80.
A Memorial Service will be at the Christian United Methodist Church in Humeston Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following.
Don was a loving husband to Roma Kay (Connell), stepfather to Donovan, Ramona, and David, grandfather to Davida Roma Stella, brother to Larry Gray, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Alan Leroy and mother Esther Marie (Avaril) Gray.
Don was born in Wells, Minnesota December 8, 1934 and graduated from Wells High School as a Golden Gloves champ in 1953. He was a Marine veteran who served in the Korean War.
He was a business owner and liked to travel riding his motorcycle in all 50 states with his wife of 37 years. He retired from Mercy Hospital in 2000. He was a lifetime member of the Gold Wing Road Riders and a support member of Women on Wheels.
He loved his family, hunting, fishing, collecting and selling guns, and bird watching. His favorite pastimes were reading and playing cards with family and friends.
Cremation was handled by the Iowa Cremation Society and Inurnment will be in Belvidere, Nebraska later. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
