Ronald George Spicher died on May 17, 2015 at his home in rural Kalona, Iowa.  

A gathering and picnic for family members to remember and celebrate  Ron’s life will we be held at the Red Haw Shelter at F.W. Kent Park, 2048 Hwy. 6 NW Oxford, Iowa on June 7, 2015 at 4:00pm.

Ronald George Spicher was born October 26, 1939 in Kalona, Iowa, the son of George and Velma (Gingerich) Spicher.  He graduated from Kalona High School in 1957, and after a short stint of working on the railroad, enlisted in the United States Air Force.  Ron served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963.

On November 30, 1963 Ron was united in marriage to Eileen Schneider at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Iowa.  Ron worked most of his life at Yoder Feeds in Frytown, Iowa, but also worked at Montgomery Ward as a young man and at Car Quest in his later years before retiring.  He was a proud member of the Richmond AmVets Post 107 and Holy Trinity Church, Richmond, Iowa.

Ron is survived by his son, Michael, of Kalona, daughter, Patty Allen of Lone Tree, Iowa: grandsons Joshua (Rochelle) Allen of West Chester, Iowa, Ryan (Amy) Allen of Wellman, Iowa, and Emmett (Diana) Allen of Yigo, Guam, siblings: Dean (Elisabeth) Spicher of North Charleston, South Carolina, Lee (Judi) Spicher of The Villages, Florida, and Joyce Craig of Iowa City, Iowa, sisters-in-law: Cleola (Dwayne) Schneider of Iowa City, Iowa and Eileen (William) Schneider of Riverside, Iowa, many beloved nieces and nephews, and three great-grandchildren:  Landon, Maylee, and Maveric, who gave him much fun and joy in their short time together.

Preceding Ron in death was his wife of fifty years, Eileen: his parents George and Velma, brother Raymond, many in-laws, and a son-in-law Richard (Ric) Allen.  

Charitable donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Hospice of Washington County, 948 E. 11th St., Washington, Iowa 52353 whose excellent service and care allowed Ron to stay at home, the only place he wanted to be.
