He provided transportation for some students so they could participate in sports. He enjoyed wood working and making crafts to sell at craft shows. Music favorites included country western and the 50’s. (Especially Elvis Presley) Every weekday morning he joined “The Happy Farmers” for coffee. There they played the penny game to determine who would pay for everyone’s coffee for the day. He served many years in the Lion’s Club, receiving many awards and launching their service project called the Bikers Pancake Breakfast. He was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church. He did two weeks of mission work in Mexico in 2003. Fred didn’t know a stranger. He was always willing to help others. Fred was known for the smile he always wore.
