Theresa Marie Franzen, 56 of Garber, IA died Monday July 6th 2015 at her home surrounded by family after a 5 year battle with Carcinoid Cancer.

Theresa was born August 11th, 1958 in Madrid, Spain to Robert & Anna Mae Slater.

Visitation will be an hour before the funeral services at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Garnavillo, IA on Saturday July 11, funeral beginning at 10 am. Burial will be at St Joseph’s Cemetery. Family invites you to the dinner at St Joseph’s church hall afterward. 

Theresa always enjoyed catering & baking. Her true joy was cooking at Doug’s for the public, meeting them and getting to know the regulars. She looked forward to and cherished the time spent with her children along with the many memories made at their annual parties.

She mothered 7 wonderful children who are forever grateful for the strength and love she instilled in them. Her love for baking was appreciated by the public and expressed by the numerous friends she made over the years. Her uplifting spirit will forever be treasured by everyone lucky to know her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her Husband Allen Franzen, her children Jeremy (Megan) Franzen, Nathan (Bobbie Jo) Franzen, Carrie (Jayme) Honkomp, Emily (Anthony) Rust, Isaac Franzen (girlfriend Kim Nieman),  Shawn (Kara) Franzen & Zachary Franzen. Grandchildren Derrick Franzen, Kelly Franzen, Oliver Franzen, Charles Franzen, Breanna Honkomp, Brittany Honkomp, Jonathan Rust.

She is proceeded in death by her Father MSgt Robert Slater, Brother-in-law Michael Barrer, Brother-in-law Donnie Franzen, Mother-in-law Mary Franzen & Granddaughter Abby Franzen.
