Shirley Ellen Kness, 70, of Vinton, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Rose Garden at Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids starting at 5:00 p.m. Satuday, July 11, 2015.
Survivors include her children, Pam (Garrid) Furnish Marek, Jim (Angie) Furnish, Julie Furnish, Dusty (Matt) Walker, Cassie Riha; grandchildren, Kendra, Ryan (Trish), Jessica, Haley, Kayla, Megan, Kody, Kyle, Jeremy, Chloey; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Barb (Russel) Maresh, Beverly (David) Merchan; brother, Jim Kness; several nieces and nephews; and Kidder the Cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dick and Fred; grandson, Zachary; great-grandson, Shayden; and a nephew, Austin.
Shirley was born June 11, 1945, the daughter of Floyd and Eleanor (Johnston) Kness in Cedar Rapids, IA. She had an avid love for the outdoors and especially her flowers. Shirley enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family in Shirley’s memory.
