Brian D. Coffin Sr., 57, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday July 22, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his significant other Karen, a daughter Jennifer (Steven) Brink of Ely; a son Brian Jr. (Kasandra) of Cedar Rapids, his mother Dee of Marion; a brother Brad (Susan) of Solon, two sisters Beverly Coffin and Becky Baker both of Cedar Rapids; his two grandchildren Colton and Braxton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Brian was born on July 16, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Alan and Glendora Shaffer Coffin. He married Laurie Michael on March 17, 1979 in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced.
Brian was a heavy machine mechanic at James W. Bell for over 35 years. He was member of the Otter Creek Sportsman Club and was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. Brian was an outdoors enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and playing soft ball.
His greatest joy however was spending time with his many friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
