Shirley Ann Sheppard

Shirley Ann Sheppard, 82, of Pleasantville, IA, formerly of Eustis, FL, passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015 at the Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville.  As were her wishes she has been cremated.  A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.

Shirley is survived by her husband Wilson Sheppard of Leesburg, FL; daughter Sandra (Peter) Paeth of Pleasantville, IA; sons Tom (Judy) Douglas of Annapolis, MD and Tim Douglas of St Augustine, FL; step-children Debbie (Glenn) Wallace of Kentucky, Megan Tart of Grand Island, FL, Sandy Hupp of Leesburg, FL and Mark (Melanie) Sheppard of Idaho; brothers Donald (Nora) Ducat of Michigan and Carl (Nancy) Ducat of Washington; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Leonard and Charlotte Ducat of Tavares, FL and her brother Julius Ducat.

Shirley Ann Ducat was born August 24, 1932 to Leonard and Charlotte (Graf) Ducat in Van Wert, Ohio.  After graduating high school in Sand Lake, MI she continued her education and received a nursing degree from the University of Michigan.  She worked for many years as a nurse and was formerly the Director of Nursing at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, FL and Winter Park Hospital in Winter Park, FL before retiring.  On August 27, 1979 she married Wilson Sheppard in Eustis, FL.  Nursing was the love of her life, though she also enjoyed sewing, swimming, reading, and the beach, but her greatest joy was being with friends and family. 

Memorial donations in Shirley’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
