Ruth Gertrude (Zeigler) Vander Mey passed away on January 30, 2015 at the age of 91 in Traer, Iowa.  She was born in 1924 to Blanche (Wallschlaeger) and Webster Zeigler in Chicago, Illinois.  She grew up in the Pullman and Roseland neighborhoods of Chicago, and graduated from Fenger High School.  Ruth married Richard R Vander Mey II in November of 1945.  She and Richard raised their family and lived in South Holland until 1989, and then retired to Sun City West, Arizona.  They moved to Traer, Iowa in 2013 to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Delbert L. Zeigler, Webster C. (Joan) Zeigler, and sister Anne Barbara (James) Crangle.  Ruth is survived by her beloved husband Richard of 69 years, her children Carol Vander Mey of Palatine IL, Richard Vander Mey III of Traer IA, Dave (Celeste) Vander Mey of Mundelein, IL and Patty (Greg) Robinson of Bolingbrook IL, two granddaughters and five nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer for their loving care and many kindnesses.
