Gary Lee Armstrong, 65, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab died January 12, 2015.
He was born May 13, 1949 in Oelwein, Iowa, son of Edwin and Delores Armstrong of Independence, Iowa.
Mr. Armstrong graduated from Independence High School in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1969-1973. He worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Viking Pump and was a member of the Local Amvets.
Survived by his father, Edwin Armstrong of Indpendence; his sister, Carol (John) Lappe of Brandon; and two nephews: John G. Lappe of Waterloo and Marc Lappe of Independence.
Preceded in death by his mother, Delores Armstrong.
Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements, with a private memorial to be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
