Laura and family, Sorry to hear of your dads passing. What a wonderful life he lead. I know my dad thought very highly of him and mentioned him often when they worked together at ISU. My mom Pat was also a Home Ec. major , back in the day. Debbie Hoemann

Joe and I knew each other when I worked with the ISU Alumni Association while he was with the Foundation at ISU. He was a remarkable colleague, sunny disposition, did not know a stranger, had unfailing energy and compassion, was a consummate professional, served ISU faithfully. I am smiling just remembering him. What a fine life to celebrate.

Just this week I was scanning old photos of my mom's. She graduated Cornell in 1950. I searched for a keyword of Morton and found a couple of images. One is of football players. He is 2nd row, 3rd from left. The other is of Joe's back, but he is being referee for the greased pole contest at the college. Here are the URLs: http://www.konopacki.us/DigitizePhotoProject/jpg/ii139_FootballTeam_Circa1950_Cornell.jpg http://www.konopacki.us/DigitizePhotoProject/jpg/ii117_Refereee_JoeMorton_GreasedPoleEvent_Cornell.jpg Football team list: 1st row K. Joe was an amazing man. I worked with him on Class of '77 projects into the 1980s. He always knew how to balance the students' requests and the University requirements. He could talk to President Parks, Don Gustafson and Jim Hobson in ways that nobody else could. Great guy. My sympathies to the family.

Joe was one of a kind. I have yet to meet anyone that showed as much kindness and warmth to people, even total strangers, as he did. As I reflect back on Joe and his life I have to think he knew no enemies. He added so much to my life in the much too brief time I spent in his company. I think one of his best qualities and what I appreciated most was his self deprecating sense of humor. Man did we share some laughs together! I will miss him but am so glad I was privileged enough to have known him and the rest of Morton family. The world was a much better place having had Joe Morton. RIP Joe.

To the children of Joe Morton. Fond memories of your family when I lived next door to you in MV. I was your baby sitter. Always said I loved sitting for all of you instead of just one or two. Your parents were excellent role models.
