Keith Oliver Garwood, age 81, of Grinnell, Iowa, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Mayflower Health Center in Grinnell. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Grinnell on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 12:00pm -3:00pm.
Keith was born July 3, 1933 in Grinnell to Glenn Donovan and Wilma Mae (Bell) Garwood. After attending school, he worked as a self-employed carpenter until his retirement. He was a long-time member of both the Fraternal Order of Eagles as well as the Elks Lodge.
Keith enjoyed the outdoors and being entertained by wildlife, NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeye sports and hunting (okay, eating) morel mushrooms. If you ever bumped into him, he likely pulled your leg a time or two.
He is survived by a son, Kirk (Melissa) Garwood of St Charles, IA as well as beloved friend Audrey England of Grinnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters; Joyce Baker of Grinnell, Charlotte Cox of Blue Springs, MO, Lil Bunn of Grinnell and Gerry Huff of Buena Park, CA.
Memorial donations in Keith’s name may be directed to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Grinnell.
