Richard W. Willmott, 94, of Springville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at home surrounded by family.
Richard Wayne Willmott was born February 27, 1921 by Paris, Iowa, the son of Benjamin and Jennie Ellis Willmott. He was united in marriage to Arlene Reif on March 1, 1950 in Iowa City. He was a farmer and all-around handyman. Woodworking was his favorite hobby; projects ranged in size from small jewelry boxes to building and remodeling houses.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Arlene, children; Bonnie (Jere) Willmott-Fuhrman, York, PA, Allan Willmott, Springville, Shirley Best (Daryl Landsgard), Saint Olaf, Sheila (Bill) Ainesworth, Hiawatha and honorary daughter Malinda (David) Poduska, Lowden. Grandchildren Staci (Kevin) Esch, Kalamazoo, MI, Jacob Willmott, Cedar Rapids, April (Jeff) Smith, Cedar Rapids, Eric (Trish) Welter, Iowa City, Benjamin Stidd, York, PA, Shawn Willmott, Cedar Rapids, Todd (Diana) Ainesworth, Cedar Rapids, Rosemary (Jeremy) Diehl, Glen Rock, PA, Brianne Willmott, Cedar Rapids, Richard (Amanda) Ainesworth, Hiawatha, Stephanie (Tyler) Steinwand, Cedar Rapids, and honorary grandchild Ambrose Poduska, Lowden, twenty-one and 3/4 great-grandchildren, sister Donna Peacock, Shellsburg and special friend of the family Jean Clark, Stone City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Wesley & Fern Reif, sons-in-law Paul Welter & Larry Best, siblings Ione Funk, Dorsie Wright, Darlene Lerch, and Merle Willmott.
There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
