Jean Martin

I wanted to add my condolences at the passing of Jean. I met Jean when I was a Girl Scout. She came to Day Camp and gave presentations on birds. I still remember that she told us the only bird that flies and sings at the same time is the Goldfinch. And the song it sings is "potato chip, potato chip". As a parent I became a Campfire Girl leader and Jean came to one of our winter campouts. The girls were in awe of Jean who dug a hole in the snow and slept in a snowdrift. Her knowledge was shared with young people. She rescued Sheltie dogs and I was able to have a wonderful dog tri color Sheltie named Missy. After that I always had a Sheltie. I took all my Shelties to "dog school" and each of them earned the top points for class. Jean had two awesome Shelties at that time. I lost track of Jean after the bread factory closed. I think she moved to Wisconsin and perhaps lived in a cabin. Later I heard she was with a son. She had a positive impact on my life and the Campfire Girls by sharing her knowledge of nature. She would give others the shirt off her back if she thought they needed it. I hope this gives the family a little insight into her life and her passions. May her spirit be blessed in the afterlife as she travels among the nature trails that she loved.

Nancy and family, We were sorry to see that your mother had passed away. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to each of you. I have learned that God does not bring us to something without bringing us through it. His grace and love are infinite and abundant during this most difficult of times for a family. Our prayers are with you and yours. Eldon and Vicki
