James Lee Churchill

I am very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a great person and helped me get my start in business. In 1973 a friend introduced me to Jim and he agreed to meet with me--even though he was on vacation. He invited me to his house in the Cottage Grove area and spent more than an hour talking to me about my goals and aspirations. It led to my first real job out of college working for Rockwell. He and Suzanne were always kind and interested in my career at Rockwell which lasted 10 years. I am sorry to say we didn't stay in touch, but I never forgot him! During my 42 years in business I have mentored many young men and women. I did it partly because of Jim. I never forgot that hour and I feel I spread his spirit of kindness exponentially over the years. So he lives on in many people--one's that he touched--who then shared his gift of kindness and leadership with others. I am sure you will miss him--he was a blessing.

I was a young employee at Collins when I first met Mr. Churchill. I say Mr. Churchill because I respected his leadership. Over the years I never met him in the halls at work or outside of business that he didn't recognize me and call me by name. My condolence to the family. I was also fortunate in the later years to work with his son Greg so my special thoughts and prayers to all.
