Clarence L. Engledow

Clarence L. Engledow, age 74, of Fairfax, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 surrounded by family at his home under the care of Hospice Compassus.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:30 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the American Legion Hall in Urbana.

Clarence was born June 22, 1941 in Vinton, Iowa to Raymond and Evelyn (Edaburn) Engledow.  He graduated from Urbana High School.  He served honorably in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany from 1959 until 1962.  He then served in the U.S. National Guard for seven years.  He was united in marriage to Linda Candler on August 23, 1974 in Rock Island, Illinois.  

He was employed by Goss Graphics in Cedar Rapids for thirty years until his retirement in 2001.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, and gardening.  He loved to do handiwork.  He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.

Clarence is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Linda; six children: Brad, Jody, Steve, Lonny, Jaymie, Luke; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother Evelyn Mather; four sisters: Sharon, Shirley, Mary, and Karen; two brothers: Ken and Bill; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Raymond in 1944 and his step-father Roy Mather, as well as brother Ron.
