David Wadlington

David P. Wadlington, 63, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his home, with his loving wife by his side.  Services will be held at a to be determined date.

David Paul Wadlington was born on December 12, 1951 to Raymond and Barbara Roper Wadlington in Denver, Colorado .  He was united in marriage to Karen Brighton on December 10, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He worked at JMS Transportation, until retiring in 2014.

Dave is survived by his wife Karen, son Dusty (Kate) Wadlington of Denver, CO, and daughter Amy (Sam) Howells of Des Moines, IA; brother Tom (Sally) Wadlington of Windsor, CO, sister Christine (Sandy) Bertsch of Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren: Jack, Luke, Reese and William Wadlington and Owen, Benjamin and Rosslyn Howells, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dave was an avid golfer and played year-round, indoors and out.  He was commonly referred to by his golfing buddies as “Super Dave.”  He was a Denver Broncos fanatic and is known coast-to-coast for the game day tradition of “schnoops,” which he said in the end would be his legacy.  Dave was never spotted without some sort of Broncos apparel.  He was fun, outgoing, and amiable, always ready to crack a joke, albeit corny ones, and brought a smile to all those that crossed his path.

His greatest passion in life was his children and he endlessly supported them in all their endeavors.  His greatest pride was their accomplishments, in life and sport.  He loved his grandchildren dearly and was very saddened he would not be able to physically support them the way he did his kids.  He and Karen shared many trips and happy memories and made the most of their last days together.  Dave was, and continues to be, loved by all who knew him.

Dave’s family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Above & Beyond Hospice Care and Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI).

Memorials may be directed to the family.
