Dorothy Viola Nelson, 88, of Davenport, IA passed away Wednesday September 10, 2014 at the St. Mary Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Davenport. As were her wishes she will be cremated.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Earl Richard Nelson of Davenport, IA; sister Evelyn Waterhouse; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Willard Waterhouse Jr.
Dorothy Viola Waterhouse was born October 5, 1925 to Willard D. and Edith Flint (Lewis) Waterhouse in Columbus Junction, IA. She graduated from Columbus Junction High School. On June 8, 1949, she married Earl Richard Nelson in Davenport, IA. Dorothy worked for many years as a ‘counter girl’ at Bishop’s Cafeteria. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Davenport.
She loved animals, and took care of many pets over the years. She also enjoyed John Deere tractors.
