Junice Mae Hartke, 89, of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, IA.
Junice Mae Gunnarson was born June 1, 1925 to Edgar and Edna (Henry) Gunnarson in Grundy Center. Junice married Louie Hartke Sr. July 27, 1946. She enjoyed sewing and quilting; everyone wanted one of Grandmas quilts. She was a Jehovah Witness and served him faithfully. Junice worked at the Grundy National Bank as a young girl before marrying and becoming a wonderful housewife, mother, and grandmother.
Junice is survived by three children: Teri Greiner of Traer, IA, Louie Hartke Jr. of Morrison, IA, and Tom Hartke of Cedar Falls, IA ; daughter-in-law Lisa Hartke wife of David; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louie Hartke Sr., and son David Hartke.
As were her wishes, she will be cremated. A private family gathering and inurnment will be scheduled for a later date. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations in Junice’s name may be made to North Star Community Services, 3420 University Avenue, Waterloo , IA.
