Charles A Guthrie

Charles A. Guthrie, 60, of Cedar Rapids died Friday October 17, 2014 at his home of cancer. The Celebration of the Life of Charles A. Guthrie will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday October 25, 2014 at the African American Museum in the Adrian Davis Celebration Hall. Iowa Cremation in in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Edith; three sons Shawn Leonard, Jeremy and Anthony Polson; two daughters Chante’ Barnes of Cedar Rapids and Amber Polson of Des Moines; two brothers Frank and Robert; four sisters Carolyn, Regina, Trudy and Arnell all from Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Billy and two sisters Pricilla and Donna.

Charles was born on February 5, 1954 in Marshalltown the son of Willie and Mildred Guthrie. He married Edith Barragan on July 9, 2012 in Iowa City. 

Charles worked for Car City and most recently for ABC Transport, He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family. He will be greatly missed. A memorial fund has been established.
