Russel Eugene Ehrenberger, 81 of Cedar Rapids died on March 09, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital following an extended illness. Per Russel’s wishes, Iowa Cremation will perform the cremation, and a private service may be held at a later date.
Russel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Ehrenberger; children, Cheryl (Chris) Langhurst, Lyle (Missy) Ehrenberger and Tery Ehrenberger (Jo); 4 grandchildren, Bryce, Carly, Aubree Langhurst and Joel Ehrenberger and a sister, Rachel Day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary and a brother Roland “Sonny” Ehrenberger.
Russel Eugene Ehrenberger was born December 28, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and LaVerne (Brink) Ehrenberger. He married Charlotte Dostal on July 20, 1958 in Cedar Rapids. After proudly serving in the US Army, during the Korean War, Russel worked for Farmstead. After serving 30 plus years in the maintenance department at Farmstead; Russel then worked for the Oakdale Correctional Facility where he retired. He enjoyed gardening, golf, wood working and spending time with his family.
The family requests that all memorial contributions be sent to Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospice.
