Ralph D. Whited, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on March 10, 2014 at Manor Care Nursing Home.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the First Church of the Open Bible. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the First Church of the Open Bible.

Ralph Donald Whited was born on December 31, 1932 to Milton and Lana Cook Whited.  He attended McKinley High School.  Ralph retired as a purchasing agent at St. Luke’s Hospital after 32 years of service.  He was united in marriage to Geraldine Winn in April 1987 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Ralph enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading and had a heart for helping people in need.  He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; a daughter, Sandee (Mark) Steinberg of Tuscon, AZ; a step-son, Mark (Joni) Short of Cedar Rapids; step grandchildren, Renee (Bob) Dostal and Darcee (Clark) Hejda both of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer (Nathan) Eilers of Coralville, Jessica (Daniel) Hepworth of Murray, KY, and Daniel Short of Des Moines; 5 great grandchildren, Justen Dostal, Jacob Steinberg, Gavin and Morgan Hejda all of Cedar Rapids; and Violet Eilers of Coralville; a sister, Betty (Don) Schmidt of Marion.

Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Roger A. Whited and brother, Earl Whited of Los Cruces, NM.
