M. Eugene Jones
Gene was born July 26, 1928 in Cresco, IA to Edyth I. Nagel Jones and Edward W. Jones. Gene was baptized into the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs. He graduated from L.S. High School in 1946. He joined the United States Army in 1953 and served through 1955 as a Military Policeman with the Century Dog Platoon along the Panama Canal. Gene was united in marriage to Rita Wemett on September 19, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs. Gene and Rita farmed together in rural Lime Springs and worked as a livestock buyer and trucker until his retirement. Gene worked the local area as a farrier for many years. Gene continued to live out his retirement with Rita at the family farm in rural Lime Springs.
Gene is survived by his wife Rita of Lime Springs; 4 children Gary (Marsha) Ramaker of Keokuk, IA, Richard (Karin) Jones of Lime Springs, Carol (Eric) Andersen of Lime Springs, Ann (Don) Mork of Sanders, MT; 9 grandchildren Andrew Ramaker and Robert Ramaker, Curtiss Jones, Sarah Jones Barron and Michael Jones, Erin Andersen Ryan and Lydia Andersen, Alan Mork and McKenzie Mork; Gene was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren Ethan Ramaker, Marley Jean Harmening and Felix Eugene Barron.
Gene had a life-long love of horses and story telling of which were both naturally mixed together in discussions he had. Gene and Rita were often found playing cards together in groups or at people's houses. Gene was known for his superb card playing abilities and a bit of good luck.
Gene was preceeded in death by his parents Edward and Edyth Jones and a sister Maxine.
