Richard Crawford

Richard Crawford, 80, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Promise House in Hiawatha.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 12 to 2 PM at Wolfey’s Wapsie Outback in Quasqueton, Iowa with a light luncheon. A private family inurnment will be held at the Quasqueton cemetery.  

Richard Crawford was born on February 13, 1934 to Wilbur and Freda Heiserman Crawford.  He graduated from Quasqueton High School in 1951.  He proudly served in the US Army from 1955 through 1956.  Richard was united in marriage to Mary Lou Spaight on January 27, 1957 in Quasqueton.  They divorced in 1973, but remained friends.  He worked at Rockwell Collins as an inspector from 1951 to 1990. 

He is survived by his children, Wendy (David) Cook of Quasqueton and Nicholas (Deborah) Crawford of Winthrop; grandchildren, Matthew Crawford of Cedar Falls and Brandi Crawford of Somerville, MA; two brothers, Norman (Barb) Crawford of Cedar Rapids; Dennis Crawford of Quasqueton; sister-in-law, Kathy Crawford; special companion, Peg Ewart and her children; Kim (Kevin) Nelson, Todd (Carrie) Ewart, Jodi Borron, and Judy (Scott) Coons; her grandchildren, Jenna Borron, Jamey (Aaron) Houghtaling, Shea (Nicole) Nelson, Lanie, GeAnna, Joelle Coons, and Maddie Nelson; and many loving family members.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Steve and Brad Crawford.

Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s honor to the family.  

Special thank you to the entire staff of the Promise House Hiawatha for their tender loving care given to Richard.
