Greta Marie Carlson, age 70, of Davenport, Iowa died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 from 6:00 until 10:00 PM at the New Opendore Tap, 2148 W. 3rd Street, Davenport. In lieu of flowers, donation baskets will be available at the celebration, or can be made to Gilda’s Club or Camp Courageous.
Greta was born July 25, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa to Glen Elsworth and Polly (Thackery) Bennett. She graduated from West High School in Davenport in 1961. She was employed at the Don E. Williams Company (DEWCO) for 22 years, and was the owner of New Opendore Ltd. Since 1997.
Greta was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She also held membership with the Davenport Moose Club, the Davenport Eagles Club, and A.B.A.T.E.
She enjoyed dancing, oil painting, and playing golf.
Greta is survived by her children Stacey K. Jones (Mike Keim) and Brad J. Jones (Dawn), both of Davenport; three grandchildren: Nick Young (Monica), Heather Young, and Dalton Jones, all of Davenport; five great-grandchildren: Junior, Tayvon, Aleyh, Deairzes, and Derrick; sister Betty Fish (Jackie) of Maquoketa; and brother Ben Bennett (Carolyn) of Bernard.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Glen and Polly Bennett; brother Glen Bennett; and son Curtis W. Jones.
