Gloria Ray
Gloria E. Ray, 75, of Tripoli, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Sartori Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with a luncheon following the services. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Gloria Evelyn Ray was born on April 26, 1939 to William Edward and Hiltrude Schultz Brooks in Waterloo, Iowa. Gloria graduated from East High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to David Ray on October 16, 1959 in Waterloo. Gloria owned Gloria’s Hair Design Barn for 23 years in Tripoli. She worked as a beautician for 50 years. She enjoyed quilting, doing crafts, golfing, and traveling with Dave. Gloria was a member of the Red Hat Society and Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli where she enjoyed playing the bells.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David; children, Nick Ray of Waverly and Melissa Warner of Waterloo; siblings, William C. Brooks of Branson, MO, Joan Schuck of Cedar Falls, and Rick (Chris) Brooks of Little Mountain, SC; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial donations may be made in Gloria’s honor to the family.
