Tom Clark

Tom Clark, age 95 of Bellevue, IA died Tuesday, July 8 at his home. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the American Legion Post in Bellevue.  Inurnment with military honors will be held before the service at 1:30 PM on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Bellevue.

Tom “Tomcat” Clark was born January 18, 1919, the son of Elliot and Deane (Lewis) Clark. He was a World War II veteran who served as part of the 252nd Remount Squadron as a horse and mule trainer for the 7th and 8th Cavalry, and served overseas in Burma.  

He married Evelyn Wohler on May 21, 1951 in Bellevue. Tom worked for Dubuque Packing Company as a driver for years. He also worked for Jim Dunn Construction and Dave Meier Construction in his later years.

He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed fishing and rattlesnake hunting. 

Survivors include three children, Kenny Clark of Bellevue; Mark Clark of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Elaine (Tom) Wright of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Evalyn Flaherty of Bellevue; and one brother Bob Clark of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Keith and Richard Clark; two brothers, Laverne and Jack Clark; and two sisters, Helen Cozart and Esther Logan.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Dubuque.
