Marjorie Ann Pelley
Marjorie Ann (nee Porter) Pelley, 82, (widow of Bill Pelley, formerly with Harkers in LeMars IA) passed away quietly at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha IA, after an extended illness on July 4, 2014. Marjorie was born in Fort Dodge IA, and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1950. Marjorie and Bill Pelley were married in June 1952 and were happily married for 50 years. Over those years Marjorie and Bill moved to Marshalltown, Davenport, and back to LeMars, then to the Derby KS where they stayed until Bill’s death in 2002. Marjorie then relocated to the St. Louis MO area to be near her daughter. When her daughter and son-in-law moved to Cedar Rapids, Marjorie stayed close and came full circle back to Iowa.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Pelley) Murphy and son-in-law Russell Murphy. Marjorie has two grandchildren, Bill Murphy (Randi) Tulsa, OK, and Suzy (Murphy) Cook (Justin) Springfield , MO, and four great grandchildren, Alaina (3), Kaiya (3), Kellen (11 mo) , and Cade (1 mo).
Marjorie has one sister that preceded her in death, Elaine Moss (Fort Dodge); and is survived by sisters Helen Rodee (Kalamazoo, MI), Patricia Sprecher (Rockford, IL), and brother Albert “Bud” Wiuff (Waterloo, IA); brother-in-law Dolan Pelley, (Derby, KS), sister-in-law Sue (Pelley) Baylouny, (Stratford, NJ).
Marjorie was an avid bridge player and enjoyed acting in community theatre in Le Mars, IA. Marjorie also volunteered at the Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars. Her bright smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed. Per Marjorie’s request, no service will be held.
