Harold Dean Rankin

Harold D. Rankin, 91, of Strawberry Point passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Harold Dean Rankin was born July, 26, 1922 to Ira P. and Sarah L. Rankin.  On April 16, 1946 he was united in marriage to Beverly B. Brockmeyer in Strawberry Point.  He retired from Starmont Community School District after 33 ½ years of service as a school bus driver and bus mechanic for the district.  Harold enjoyed family vacations with his wife and children, monthly campouts with the Winnebago Wheels and after their retirement, Harold and Beverly migrated south for the winter with the rest of the “snowbirds”.  

Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly of Strawberry Point, son, Craig Rankin of Cypress, TX, daughter, Carol Rankin of Highland, CA, brother, Donald W. (Ella Mae) Rankin of New Hampton, IA.  Also sisters-in-law, Evelyn Totman, Betty (Vincent) Kenneally,  Janice O’Loughlin, brother-in-law Ronald Brockmeyer and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Dan O’Loughlin, Joe Totman, and sisters-in-law Karen Lee Brockmeyer and Margo Brockmeyer. 

Visitation will be Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Strawberry Point.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at United Methodist Church, Strawberry Point with Reverend Doc Leonard Ranson officiating.
