Paul Nelson Grecian

Paul Nelson Grecian, 91, of Marshalltown, formerly of Lone Tree, passed away January 22, 2014 at Iowa River Hospice of Marshalltown.

He was born June 25, 1922 to Riley and Dora Grecian.  He grew up in Highland Township, Washington County helping on the family farm and sawmill.

Paul enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II 1944 – 1946.  He returned home to marry the love of his life, Lorraine Ethyl Baker on December 29, 1947.  They lived their lives together working on their farm and going dancing, which was their favorite pastime.  Paul enjoyed his family and neighbors.  He was a kind man who enjoyed his farm life, animals, cars and motorcycles.  He loved music and traveling with Lorraine.  Paul was descended from a patriot who fought in the Revolutionary War.

He is survived by his son Daryl (Judy) Grecian of Solon, Iowa and daughter Colene Grecian of Marshalltown, Iowa; three grandchildren: Andrew Grecian of Solon, Iowa, Angela Grecian Daoud, Clear Lake and Erika Hilleman, Iowa City; three great-grandchildren Kristina, Khalil and Joey Daoud.  He has one sister Helene Lucille (Dal) Queck of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Delbert and his wife Lorraine.

There will be a memorial service later in the year for both Paul and Lorraine in the Lone Tree-Riverside area.
