Nadine Erliss Rauhauser Albrecht

Ron and Maxine Maly were very saddened when they learned of Nadine's death. We were longtime friends of Nadine and Chuck in their "Apple Orchard" days in West Des Moines. We picked plenty of apples and cherries at that wonderful place on Ashworth Road, and we enjoyed the company of Nadine and Chuck at July 4 celebrations, fall picnics, spring picnics, summer picnics and even winter picnics. Heck, every day was a picnic with Nadine and Chuck. Our best to Scott, Todd, Troy and their families. We share in your sorrow.

Terry and I send our condolences to the Albrecht/Rauhauser family. After reading the obituary from the Des Moines Register, I am appalled at the misinformation and disrespect. As a constant friend of Nadine's for almost 70 years, I am compelled to set the record straight. Nadine was raised in a strict, but loving, German Lutheran family. She knew the meaning of Hard work! During difficult times, when building the Albrecht family business, she worked nights nights as a waitress, kept the apple orchard humming, (The Apple Lady), raised three great kids, and then became the "power pack" behind the business. She always had good business sense and was the owner of a successful reality company in Panora. Contrary to the obit misinformation, Nadine was a life long, outspoken, passionate, conservative Republican. She volunteered incredible time and energy to the Republican Party and was personally recognized for her efforts by President Reagan and President Ford. Nadine was never too busy to welcome you into her home and present you with a last minute, fantastic meal. She loved people and strangers who encountered her were laughing and chatting in minutes. I spoke with Nadine frequently during the past two months and am thankful for that. I always admired her enthusiasm and knowledge of politics and enjoyed her laughter and sense of humor. Nadine! Friend! We will miss you!

Nadi had a infectious laugh and sense of humor that often made her the life of the party. She accepted me into the Rauhauser family with great warmth and was so caring and accepting of her brother Bill. Her most cherished feat was raising 3 amazing kids that were independently unique and special in so many ways. She loved her grandkids and treasured her time with childhood friend Junette who she recently visited in Cal. I will miss my sister-in-law and, most especially, her caring calls to catch up with her baby brother.
