Merle Knuteson
Merle, Knuteson, 91, of Lowden, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 2 at 1:30 PM at Christian Lutheran Church in Wheatland. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
He was born April 24, 1923 in Lodi, Wisconsin. Merle served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lowden American Legion. Merle was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan.
Surviving are his daughter, Karen Herwig of West Des Moines; step-daughters, Nancy Fox of Lowden and Carolyn King of Cedar Rapids; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
