Lois Hill
Lois Jean Hill, 83, of Ottumwa, IA passed away December 31, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. As were her wishes, she will be cremated. A private family inurnment will be scheduled for a later date.
Lois is survived by her children: Mike Hill of Ottumwa, IA, Rae Jean (Steve) Bowhey of Tacoma, WA, Darlene (Terry) Hayden of Anthem, Arizona; and James Douglas Hill of Tacoma, WA; her cousin who was like a sister Dona Melberg of Arvada, CO; 3 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and three dogs: Alexander, Cece, and Caesar.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert Hill.
Lois Jean Mathewson was born February 12, 1931 to Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Poe) Mathewson in Williston, North Dakota. On June 3, 1949 she married Robert James Hill in Ashland, Wisconsin. Lois loved music. After graduating from high school she received two scholarships from Juilliard for vocals and the piano. She also performed on the radio for the troops. Lois was proud of the fact that her ancestors came to America on the Mayflower, and many were patriots that fought in the Revolution. One of her hobbies was automobiles. She and her husband Robert would often have at least five to six different vehicles at a time, and she especially enjoyed taking family trips in the Jaguar.
