Martin John Winter

Martin John Winter, 80, of Raymond, died Tuesday, Aug 26, at Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital of Waterloo.

He was born July 28, 1934, in Waucoma, son of Phil and Cecilia Bruess Winter.  He married Mary Kay Rader in 1954 and later divorced.   He later met, Evonita (Evy) Dahl in Oct. 1997 and she became the love of his life.    

Martin graduated from Fredericksburg High School and farmed most of his life near Sumner.   After retiring in 1985, he lived nearly 16 years in Denver and most recently the last 11 years in Raymond where he served 8 years on the city council from 2005-2013.

Martin is survived by Evonita (Schultz) Dahl; three daughters, Patti (Darryl) Wenthe of Marion, Linda Becker of Kansas City, MO, and Debra (Dan) Callahan of Marion; two sons, Dennis (Lorianna) Winter of Des Moines; Larry Winter of Urbana; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.   He is also survived by his step-son, Randall (Amy) Schultz of North Liberty; his step-daughter, Karrie Schultz of Waterloo; and two step-grandsons.
   
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, Irvin, his sister-in-law, Evelyn, his niece, Sharon, his nephew, Gordy, and his step-grandson, Andrew

Honoring Martin's wishes, his body was cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  

Memorials may be left to the families’ discretion.
