Edward William Eilers

Edward William Eilers, 84, of Clarksville, Iowa passed away Thursday May 2, 2013 at the Waverly Health Center. As were his wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Edward is survived by his wife Georgia Eilers of Clarksville, IA; two children Sharon (Steve) Frerichs of Clarksville, IA and Edward (Sheila) William Eilers Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Timothy Frerichs of Charles City, Benjamin Frerichs of Waterloo, IA, and Elias Eilers of Las Cruces, NM; and two great grandchildren; sisters Gesina Jungling of Aplington, IA, Alma Bettinga of Clarksville, IA, Grace Arends of Janesville, IA, Margareta March of Oelwein, IA, and Adeline Johnson of Allison, IA; sisters-in-law Barbara Eilers of Allison, IA and Betty Eilers of Webster City, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers William Eilers, Chris Eilers and George Eilers. Edward William Eilers was born March 12, 1929 to William and Alma (Kampman) Eilers in Kesley, Iowa. He attended Butler County Schools and earned his GED from Hawkeye Community College. Edward worked as a mechanic for Bill Skinner"s Standard service in Clarksville for 15 years. He worked in Waverly, IA at Krieners Imp. And Coonradt Ford-Mercury for two years each before going on to work at the Butler County Road Department for the next 20 years before retiring. Edward was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and served on the church council twice. He was a boy scout master for two years, and a member of the Clarksville Community School Board for 12 years. He was also involved with the Odd Fellows for over 40 years. His hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, and playing cards at the country club, where he was board president for 3 years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Memorials in Edward''s name may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church.
