James A. DeWitt
James A. DeWitt Sr., 70, of Berwick, IA passed away on June 25, 2013. A memorial will be announced at a later date.
Born on December 29, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of James T. and Audrey (McCray) DeWitt.
In 1971, Jim was a 3rd degree Mason in Fontana CA. Then, in 1988, he was the President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Burlington IA. Jim was an avid golfer and instructor of golf. He retired from Exide, a battery plant, in Burlington IA. Jim was a jack-of-all-trades and was also a member of the Gold Prospectors of Iowa. He was clean and sober for 23 years.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Barbara (Bunny) Wilson-DeWitt, three sons; Paul, Jamie, and Tony, two step-children; Nick Kern of Waterloo and Annie Wilson of Burlington, two sisters, Mary Codding of AR and Darlene Zucas of CA, his uncle David (Skinny) McCray of Davenport, and three grandchildren; Addison, Cameron, and Clover.
There is a college trust fund set up for his son, Anthony (Tony) DeWitt at Casebine Credit Union in Burlington. Memorials may be sent to P.O. Box #99, Berwick IA 50032.
