Kenneth "Kenny" J. Brokens, 85, of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Luke''s Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 10 AM at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Kenneth John Brokens was born on August 19, 1927 to William and Anne Balster Brokens in Jones County, Iowa. He proudly served in the US Navy from June 27, 1945 to July 30, 1948 in the Philippine Islands. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Clark on June 20, 1969 in Missouri. She passed away in February 2008. Kenny was a hard working carpenter until the age of 75. He and Evelyn enjoyed camping and being at Darrell''s Restaurant.
He is survived by his children, Eric (Brenda) Brokens of Monticello and Kevin (Fran) Brokens of Manchester; Linda (Steve) Otten of Wheatland; Tom (Teri) Clark of Shell Knob, Missouri; and Don Clark of Cedar Rapids; sister, Helen Boss of Monticello; brother, Ed (Velda) Brokens of Monticello; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Brokens.
