Audra Rose Lehmann

To Bob and Family, We want to express our deepest sympathy to all of you. We have many fond memories of Audra from Wartburg functions. We are thankful that she is now comfortable and at peace. We pray that your faith will provide the needed strength, now and in the future. It was nice that you were able to worship with us at Zion. Most sincerely, Curt & Joan

As s new teacher at southeast school Audra became my mentor and friend. i spent hours at her home and valued the time with her. She sang at our wedding and hosted my first shower. As time wore on our lives separated until I moved to Coralville and met her friend Mary Moreland. We traveled to Dubuque together to see Audra and I'm so sorry to hear she passed away while we are here in California vacationing. Our prayers are with her family and our thoughts are of a lovely lady we enjoyed sharing our lives with.

Bob, I did not recognize Audra from her current name but remembered that I have only known one Audra in my life. It turns out that this is her. I remember her well and have often wondered just what happened to her. I am so pleased that she found you and spent so many years with you. May God be with her, and you, and if I am lucky will see you both in eternity. vlpvsEKI

Bob--I am so sorry to hear of Audra's passing. I had forgotten that you were on your honeymoon when you were at Washington. We treasure the memory of you baptizing our son, Chris, during your brief time at Immanuel and I have great fun memories of time spent with Audra at women's synod gatherings. Thinking of you and your family at this sad time. Peg Harris

Bob So sad to hear and read about the death of Audra. I'm sure your last days with her were sad and joyfilled at the same time. So much love between the two of you! The gift of years of marriage and companionship must have been in both of your hearts. The great way your love for each other enabled you to bring that love to so many others warms my heart. She will be missed. Yet she lives on in all of our minds and hearts as well as in the heart of God! My thoughts and prayers for Audra and you! Joel Gorun

Our friendship goes back to 1968 in Waverly, and has continued since. Audra exemplifies "I have fought the good fight. . ." exhibited in so many ways in her life. Through it all she remained steadfast and tough, yet tender, warm and caring. We extend our deepest sympathy to Bob and her/their large family who know well her devotion and love. God be with you. We were shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Audra's death. Our deepest sympathies to you, Robert, and all your combined families. We've cherished Audra's friendship since the 50's when she and her first husband served our congregation. We have fond memories of Audra directing the Junior Choir, of her giving me voice lessons in my early teens, of her giving me my first bell from her wonderful collection which started my own collection. She was a wonderful friend to my mother-in-law, Anne, when she was going through cancer. So we have cherished her friendship for many, many years. And now we will cherish the memories. She lives in our hearts. The choir of heaven has a wonderful new voice joining in praises to God. May He keep all of you close to His heart. With Love, Don & Marjorie Mueller

Dear Bob, Mark and ALL! Heaven has gained another SAINT with Audra's passing! We always looked forward to the special letter AND Prayers, on the day that our Christmas card was chosen from your 'stacks". What a wonderful tradition she started! We're so glad we were able to see Audra in October at the 75th Reunion Choir. Music/Wartburg was so special to her. She "baby sat" for us when she came back to complete her degree all those years ago, and our kids LOVED HER too! We will certainly be with you all in spirit at her Saturday service. We have lost a DEAR friend. With Sympathy and LOVE, Barb and Jim2

Audie was my grandmother's (Anna Jakober Benfit Fuchs) sister-in-law and she was like a sister to my mother, Ruby Benfit Beck Converse. I remember being at Roland and Audie's house ( I think they then lived in New Leipsig, ND) for my first-ever haircut. It was the beginning of my second grade and I was quite emotional about losing my braids. Audie supported me then just as Bob and she supported me when my mother died in 2011. My Mom's wish was to be with my grandmother and my uncle, Werner, in the Hosmer, SD, cemetary. Bob and Audie traveled all that way and Bob conducted the funeral service for my mom. For all they did to help fulfill my mother's wishes, they both have my undying gratitude. The world is graced by people like Bob and Audie. Be forever peaceful, my dear friend. Jill

My mom Charlotte, her sisters Ruby and Charlene along with Grandma Anna Fuchs would always speak so fondly of "Audie." I will cherish Audie's hugs and conversation at Ruby's memorial service two summers ago. Cherish the memories.

I only knew of Audra from stories told by Ruby Benfit Beck Converse. Ruby loved Audra and especially enjoyed her letters. I finally met Audra two summers ago at Ruby's burial. I cherish that afternoon and Audra helped make it so memorable.

Bob and family - It was an honor and a privilege to be with Audra and all of you during the last part of her life. Your love for one another and your faith in Jesus Christ will continue to strengthen you during this time. Sorry Ed and I will not be able to be with you for the funeral, but you are surrounded with the whole cloud of witnesses of this time and every time. Chaplain Cindy

Audie was my great aunt-my Grandma Anna Jakober Benfit Fuchs sister-in- law. We could not get enough hugs with each other at Ruby's memorial service. I so enjoyed meeting Bob also and he said such kind words at the service. Thank you.

Often still think of Aunt Audie. The Easter celebration is a comforting remembrance of a lady of great faith who is now with her Lord and all other family members.

Good friend Audra. Sure sad I didn't get to give you one last hug. All the good times we had making quilts at St Paul Ottumwa, all the activities we were involved in with the old Brighton Conference, all the conventions and retreats we went to. The get togethers at the Wartburg Renaissance Fairs and all the other times we had coffee with friends. You and Bob made such a good team. Love you both. Evonne

Audra was the first person to come to our house to welcome us when we moved to Waverly back in the 1970's. Bud was privileged to officiate at her and Bob's wedding (7:14 a.m.!). Later we spent time together when we lived in Indianola and Bob and Audra were ina Des Moines. And even later we continued our friendship when they moved to Dubuque, Iowa. where we were already living. We cherish our memories of this kind and generous woman. Bud and Dona Buchheim
