Floyd A. Christensen

My sincere sympathy. As native West Branchers, Chris and I had many conversations about the people and activities of WB. I remember when I worked at Jensen Grocery Chris would buy Planters peanuts by the box. When I worked at the Hoover Hotel he and his buddies would come in about closing time and we would remain open to feed them. Those were the days of his convertible. He and my brother Charles LeRoy took the train together to Camp Dodge when they were drafted in WWII and were at the same base for a period. In later years I enjoyed visiting with him when I went to the Hoover Library. He always had a bit of information I had not known previously. Yes, a good person has gone to his final resting place. Savor the good memories.

Darlene, Heidi, Chris and family, Floyd was an honest, hard working and dedicated family man who will be missed by all of us who knew him. The time I spent in your apartment, teaching in the WB junior high school and working with Floyd at the Hoover Library/Museum were some of the best years of my life. With deepest sympathies to all, Paul Mohr

Darlene, Chris, and Heidi: My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. From growing up in the neighborhood to my days at the motel, Floyd was an outstanding supporter of this young man, always encouraging me to do my best. His love and commitment of family was constantly evident. I can smile knowing that my life got to crisscross with Floyd and his family! Curt

Sorry to hear of Floyd's passing. My parents were John and Pauline Pedersen Kofron, who are no longer with us. Mother was Floyd's cousin on his mother's side. It seems that life is much too short. I will have him on my mind.

I just found out about Floyd's passing. I'm very sorry for your loss. When they lived in West Branch Floyd and Darlene were my next door neighbors. They were so wonderful and I've missed them and thought of them frequently. I know they moved to get more time with family so I hope that was fulfilled. I would very much like to contact Darlene. If that would be ok I would need to know how to reach. My thoughts and prayers are with her and the entire family.

After reading Floyd's obituary in the Gazette, I called my father, Grant Peterson, who had coached him in football at West Branch. He talked very highly of Floyd and his athletic abilities. He was Dad's star running back and scored 5 touchdowns in one game! Grant is now 96 and in a care facility in Marshalltown, but still loves to recall his former coaching days and can name his players and their positions. He visited Floyd at the Vet's Home a few years ago. I thought the family would like to know how much he thought of Floyd. Please accept our sympathy in his passing.

Dear Heidi & John, I was so very to learn of the passing of your dear Father. It sounded like he was quite a man and you were so very lucky to have had him as your Dad. I know you all have such great memories of him, hold them close and keep those fond memories in your hearts. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time.
