Marilyn Lee Britt, 78, of Des Moines, IA passed away Friday December 13, 2013 at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk, IA.  As were her wishes, she will be cremated.  Services will be scheduled for a later date.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Alton Britt of Des Moines, IA; 2 daughters: Kimberly McFarland of Pleasant Hill, IA, and Katherine Campbell of Ida Grove, IA; 6 grandchildren: Angel Kline, Matthew Britt, Deana Wallukait, Christina Schroeder, Samantha Clough, and Eliot Clough; 6 great grandchildren: Jayden and Nathan Schroeder, Chyanne, Mikah, Jacob, and Lilith Britt; sister Sharon Crawford of Gladstone, MO; brothers: Roger Gilchrist of Columbia, IA, Danny Gilchrist of Beacon, IA, and Dean Gilchrist of Knoxville, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Michael Britt; 5 siblings: Jerry Koons, Dixie Koons, Harla Eich, Janice Hoffman, and Diane Gilchrist; and granddaughter Samantha Rae Britt.

Marilyn Lee Koons was born July 18, 1935 to James Dee Koons and Winnifred Gilchrist in Iowa City, IA.  She graduated from Knoxville High School.  On October 11, 1953 she married Alton Eugene Britt in Knoxville, IA.  Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking, and reading.  Marilyn had many jobs but always enjoyed working with and helping people the most.  Spending time with her family was very important to her and she was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren.  Babies and toddlers brought her great joy.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to the Food Bank of Iowa.
