Frank A. Gaskins, 59 of Cedar Rapids died Friday December 13, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City after a sudden illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie, three daughters, Amanda Brown, Catiline and Shannon Gaskins all of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Keith Gaskins of Missouri and Dennis Matlock of Arkansas; one brother Charles of Missouri and three sisters, Glenda Martin of Illinois, Debbie Asher and Sherrie Yates both of Missouri. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parent and 2 sisters.

Frank was born on August 21, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Frank and Pauline Pritchett Gaskins. He married Carrie A. Hyatt on August 18, 1990 in Cedar Rapids. Frank worked at Higley Mansion and was a Licensed Practical Nurse, a C.N.A., O.M.T., and an E.M.T.B.

Frank proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his dogs and especially the time spent with his beloved family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial has been established in Frank’s name.
