Laurie Kay Hansen

Laurie Kay (McKean) Hansen passed peacefully in her sleep Sunday May 13th, 2012 in her home in Allison, Iowa. Services will be held Saturday, May 19th, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Allison, Iowa. Laurie was born in Estherville, Iowa, September 14th, 1943 to Thomas and Georgia McKean. She attended school at Gruver, Iowa and graduated from Lincoln Central High School in 1961. She was married to Gary Lee Hansen on September 23, 1961. They lived in Estherville, Sheffield, Grinnell, and settled in Allison in 1972. Laurie worked as a secretary, waitress, and in telephone marketing. She was a member of the Allison Volunteer Ambulance, UCC Women''s Fellowship, Garden Club, and most recently Card Club. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Her passion was art. She made items for everyone to enjoy from paintings to crafts. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Boyle of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, son Greg of Kalona, Iowa, daughter Kathy (Ken) Alessi of Flanagan, Illinois, son Brad (Wendy) of Allison, Iowa; 12 Grandchildren, Kelsey, Shelby, Meghan, Kyle, Jessica (Abe), Wesley (Heather), Zack, Shauna, Shannon, Caitlin, Michael and Shayna; 2 Great Grandchildren, Autumn, and Willow. Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, brother Denny McKean, a granddaughter Sharon Nicole, and Eike and Ione Sampson.
