Obituary for Gerald Clarence Krull

Gerald Clarence Krull, age 85, passed away May 2, 2012 at the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa. He was born April 20, 1927 in rural Allison, Iowa to Carl and Jenny (Wubbena) Krull. Gerald graduated from Allison High School in 1944. He was united in marriage to Maxine Lois Maifeld on September 24, 1948 in Dumont, Iowa. Gerald farmed in the Allison and Clarksville area until 1959 when he moved his family to Dike, Iowa. While in Dike they owned and operated the Home Cafe. Later he purchased a local hardware store where he started a plumbing, heating and air conditioning business. In 1966 Gerald moved his business and family to Clarksville when he purchased Clarksville Hardware. He later closed the hardware store but continued in the plumbing and heating business until retirement in 1997. Gerald and Maxine moved to Laurie, Missouri for ten years, returning to Clarksville, Iowa in 2007. Gerald enjoyed being with his family, fishing and those times he and Maxine were able to spend winter months in Texas with friends. Gerald is survived by his wife Maxine and four children - Carey (Joy) Krull of Brooklyn, Iowa, Geri (Dave) Percival, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Teri (Kurt) Oltman of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and Joel (Jill) Krull of Smithville, Missouri; Seven grandchildren - Angela (Michael) Mowery, Lynde (Ebe) Boettcher, Christian (Jennifer) Krull, John and Jackson Krull, Jakob and Luke Oltman and two great grandchildren - Sage and Uwen Boettcher; one sister, Deloris (Eugene) Maifeld; one brother-in-law Jim Turner. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Turner. Memorial service will be held at Clarksville Community United Methodist Church, Clarkesville, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012 with Pastor Dan Fernandez officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church before the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson''s Disease Association, Inc.
