George Richard Burr

My sympathies go out to you all, Carol, Michele and Stephanie, and families. I add my memories of Dick as being such a handsome, polite, and humorous gentleman in our community of Sioux Rapids. The obituary mentioned some things about him of which I was not aware but am not surprised to read. My memories of Dick and Carol include the old Cornell School system, the very well appointed store Dick ran, the times at Leah's recitals and the Eastern Star family events. I know his passing will leave an empty spot, but we can all know that he is in the arms of Jesus and free of worldly concerns.

Richard was always dressed to the nines!! Didn't matter if it was dress or casual Was always envious. Not until later years that I was able to thank him and Carol for every thing they did for SR community. The greatest of condolences to the family.

Dearest Burr Family, Of course, it hurts my heart to see that Richard has passed. I am happy to know his pain is gone, I am so very sad for my dear dear friend Carol, who after 71 years will miss him so and for all the family who loved him dearly. Richard was one of the most handsome men I have ever known, up until the very last time saw him recently, he still was so good looking. My husband and family and I send special love and comforting prayers at this time. We will send a formal card to Carol and to the Foundation in his memory. May you all be blessed with the fantastic memories that you have together.

In memory of Richard Burr An honest man here lies at rest, The friend of man, the friend of truth, The friend of age, and guide of youth: Few hearts like his, with virtue warm'd, Few heads with knowledge so inform'd; If there's another world, he lives in bliss; If there is none, he made the best of this. Robert Burns Richard Burr's journey is now over, and what a tough journey it was towards the end. Our sympathy to Carol and "the girls" who meant so very much to Richard! Take good care of of your Mom, Carol who means so very much to me! I know all of this has been tough on her! Remember always the Lord is "carrying you in His arms" through all this grief and pain. Love and prayers, Jan Booth

Carol, we want to extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved Richard. He was a generous, smart, fun-loving man who brought great joy to his family and and friends. We stopped by Cottage Grove Place this evening, hoping to find you in the dining room. We missed you by a few minutes, so we left a card for you at the front desk. We will see you Sunday afternoon to mourn Richard's passing, and to celebrate his life! Please take care.

Part of growing up in a small town like Sioux Rapids is the advantage of knowing the people who run the businesses. Richard Burr was a role model for the young people growing up in town. He was an honest businessman, a true gentleman, a good family man, and the kind of person who has a leavening affect on a community, making it a better place for everyone.

I was sorry to hear of Richard's passing. This is a time of sorrow but also a time to give thinks for the many years that Richard was with us. I will miss Richard at the alumni reunions. I always enjoyed chatting with Richard and Carol and watching Richard enjoying the people around him at the reunions. He was a good man and the Sioux Rapids area was lucky to have such a good community leader. He is appreciated and will be missed.
