Carsten E. Ellingson

Carsten E. Ellingson, 68, of Olin, died March 1, 2012 at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center of congestive heart failure. There will be a celebration of Carsten''s life at a later date yet to be determined. Survivors include Carsten''s wife of 39 years, Betty; son, Curtis (Janell) Ellingson; siblings, Janeen (Jack) Myer of Ankeny, Iowa, Merley (Bob) Rasmussen of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and Kevin (Pat) Ellingson of Decorah, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Carsten was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Ellingson. Carsten E. Ellingson was born January 26, 1944 in Decorah to George and Myrtle (Sersland) Ellingson. Carsy and Betty Stabenow married on March 2, 1973 in Marion and resided in Martelle until 1999, before moving to rural Olin. Carsy worked as a mechanic on large equipment most of his life, but still made time for fishing, camping and he really loved going to auctions. He loved life and never meet a stranger. Carsy will be missed. Special heartfelt thanks goes to all the employees of Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center and Iowa Hospice.
