Obituary for Richard McClellan

Richard Herbert McClellan, 89, of Burlington, IA died Tuesday January 17, 2012 at the Burlington Care Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include Richard H. (Cathy) McClellan Jr. of Burlington, Robert L. (Jenny) McClellan of Jefferson City, MO, Wendy (Rob) Woodside of Burlington, Kay Kaster of Sycamore, IL, and Mike McClellan of Davenport, IA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 60 years Genny, and infant daughter Carol Ann McClellan. Richard H. McClellan Sr. was born December 17, 1922 in Denver, CO. His parents were Henry and Winifred McClellan. He joined the Navy in 1937, serving in both World War II and Korea. He married Genevieve Elaine Hill on January 5, 1947. Richard enjoyed farming, gardening, and making others smile. He was a family man and always dedicated to his wife and five children. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. Memorials may be made in his name to Parkside First Baptist Church, 300 Potter Drive, Burlington, Iowa 52601.
