Obituary for Lewis J. Dittmar

Lewis J. Dittmar, 75 of 1193 4th Street in Marion died Friday January 27, 2012 at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa after a long illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Eagle Ridge Mobile Home Court, 1285 Red Fox Way, off of Highway 13. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter Teresa (Mike) Schmickle of Florida; a son, Michael (Allie) of Cedar Rapids and two brothers, Alfred of Marshalltown and Rudy of Colorado. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael II (Tiffany), Andrew, Reagan, Taylor, Benjamin; and four great grandchildren, Ravyn, Madilyn, Zavier and Karmyn. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Lewis was born on June 12, 1936 in Iowa City, the son of Philip and Louise Dresden Dittmar. He Married Barbara E. Magarell on August 10, 1957 in Cedar Rapids. Lewis was an operating engineer for Martin Marietta and retired from there after 28 years of service. Lewis enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and especially time spent with his beloved family and many friends.
