Obituary for Richard F. Guenther

Richard F. Guenther, 83, of Oelwein passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Rev. Michael Holmen officiating. Inurnment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family. Richard Frederick Guenther was born on May 11, 1928 to Fredrich and Viola Riemer Guenther in Watertown, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Donna Schroeder on October 10, 1966 in Columbia, Missouri. Richard was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Missouri; and current member of Peace Lutheran Church in Oelwein. They are former residents of Maynard, Iowa where he operated Maynard Plumbing and Heating for many years. He and Donna then moved to Potosi, Missouri where he enjoyed his work as a carpenter for many years. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Rick (Judy) Guenther of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Beth (Don) Henderson of Saginaw, MI; Janette (Vernon) Vandersee of Enid, OK; step son, Phillip (Carol) Thyer of Independence and step daughter, Debra (Rollyn) Schroeder of Oelwein; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and a grandchild.
