Obituary for Keith Fields

Keith Fields, 83, passed away Saturday, February 25th at his home surrounded by his family. Keith was a lifelong resident of Tipton, born there June 11, 1928 to Frieda and Forrest Fields as the sixth of nine children. Keith married Henrietta (Ditter) Petersen in 1948. Keith served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, 1952 to 1954. After which he returned to Tipton and was employed by Horn & Leabhart Clothing. Keith later purchased the clothing store and was the owner of Fields Menswear for over 35 years, retiring in 1990. An avid golfer, Keith was a longtime member of the Tipton Golf and Country Club where he took pride in helping develop the golfing talents of children and grandchildren by teaching them to "keep your head down." Keith was a past member of Kaaba Shrine, the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, and Rotary Club – being named a Paul Harris Fellow. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Richard. He is survived by his wife, a son, Jeff Fields of Milwaukee, a daughter, Jennie Schroeder of Tipton, grandsons Andrew and Collin Schroeder of Tipton, his brothers Henry, Robert, and Jim and his sisters, Joann, Mary Jean, and Carol Jean. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton Iowa, with Rev. David Lorenzen presiding. Visitation before the service is from 1 to 3 pm with a luncheon to follow the service. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
